Probiotics are live microorganismsāprimarily bacteria and yeastsāthat naturally inhabit our digestive system or are introduced through fermented foods and supplements.
In the intestines, probiotics attach to the gut lining and start to break down undigested fibers and other nutrients in our gut through fermentation, a process that produces short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) like butyrate, acetate, and propionate. These SCFAs serve as a primary energy source for the cells lining the colon. They help regulate inflammation, and maintain a healthy pH in the gut. Some probiotic strains produce vitamins (such as certain B vitamins and vitamin K) during fermentation, contributing extra nutrients.
In addition, probiotics compete with harmful bacteria for space and nutrients, preventing them from taking hold in your digestive system. They also produce natural antimicrobial substances, such as bacteriocins, which help suppress the growth of undesirable microbes. Probiotics strengthen the gut barrier by enhancing mucus production and tightening the connections between intestinal cells, reducing the risk of toxins and pathogens entering your bloodstream. Since a large portion of our immune system resides in the gut, probiotics also interact with immune cells to modulate inflammatory responses.
Each probiotic species have been studied for differing effects.
Saccharomyces boulardii helps to regulate the health of the microbiome by blocking dangerous bacteria such as Clostridioides difficile. It does this by secreting protein-digesting enzymes that break down the bacteria, and by reducing inflammation through lowering anti-inflammatory molecules called transcription factors.
In addition, Lactic acid-forming bacteria work to increase levels of specific proteins in the small intestine and in doing so lower the incidence of intestinal permeability (Leaky Gut). This is a condition where unwanted food particles and other components of the digestive tract leak into the blood stream, causing high levels of inflammation and cellular dysfunction. These same bacteria also produce butyrate, a type of short chain fatty acid (a type fat molecule) that works to support the health and lining of the gut by increasing the production of a substance called Mucin.
Bacillus coagulans, a spore-forming probiotic, is able to withstand the harsh stomach environment and enter the small intestine. In this less acidic environment, it then germinates and produces enzymes and antimicrobial compounds that balance gut flora, thereby alleviating symptoms of constipation and bloating by improving the rate at which food moves through the digestive tract.
Probiotics have been shown to help support a healthy immune system by interacting with certain cells in the protective lining of the small intestine, known as gut-associated lymphoid tissue (GALT). This interaction helps to strengthen both branches of the body’s immune system.
Specifically, probiotics like Saccharomyces boulardii support a healthy immune response by increasing levels of an antibody called secretory IgA, an immune-modulating substance that helps protect the gut lining from infections. This action is complemented by the other strains in CultureĀ® such as Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium, which work to lower inflammation and improve immunity. They do this by releasing anti-inflammatory molecules such as IL-10 whilst also blocking the action of inflammatory ones such as IL-6 and TNF-Alpha. Additionally, spore-based probiotics such as Bacillus coagulans support the immune system by encouraging the growth of key immune cells (T-cells), and by increasing the production of immune-signaling molecules called cytokines, which work in the body to coordinate immune responses to inflammation.
Zinc L-Carnosine works primarily by binding to the stomach lining, where it promotes healing and protects the tissue from damage. It also stimulates mucus secretion in the stomach, enhancing the protective barrier. This mucus layer prevents acid and digestive enzymes from irritating the stomach lining, further promoting healing. Additionally, it inhibits the release of pro-inflammatory molecules, reducing inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract.
A healthy gut supports efficient digestion, smooth nutrient absorption, and a well-regulated immune response. When your gut is balanced, you typically experience regular bowel movements, minimal bloating, consistent energy levels, and even improved moodāthanks to the gut-brain connection. Gut dysfunction can be triggered by a diet low in fiber and high in processed foods, excessive sugars and unhealthy fats, chronic stress, and the overuse of antibiotics. When the balance in your gut is disturbed, it can lead to digestive discomfort, such as bloating, gas, and irregular bowel movements. A compromised gut barrierāoften referred to as “leaky gut”ācan let toxins and pathogens slip into the bloodstream, triggering systemic inflammation. Over time, this dysfunction is linked to a range of health issues, including metabolic disorders, autoimmune conditions, and mood imbalances.
As we age, the balance of our gut microbiome often shiftsābeneficial bacteria can dwindle while less desirable microbes take hold. Emerging research suggests that a balanced microbiome may help curb chronic, low-grade inflammationāa significant contributor to age-related decline. By restoring and maintaining a healthy microbial balance, probiotics help fortify the gut barrier, support efficient digestion, promote better nutrient uptake, and modulate immune responses to reduce inflammationāall of which contribute to long-term health.
Consider the following statements. If you find one or more relatable, CultureĀ® might be the support youāve been searching for.
We are committed to the following quality controls to ensure consistency, reliability, and transparency in every product. Our goal is to raise industry standards and give you clear reasons to trust what you’re taking.
All products are made to cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practice) standards, the global benchmark for supplement quality. GMP standards ensure strict control over how our supplements are produced, covering everything from cleanliness to documentation and quality control. Every step is monitored to guarantee consistency and safety in every batch, so you receive the same high-quality product every time.
Created by the US FDA, GMP regulations legally require manufacturers to ensure product safety, purity, and effectiveness. GMP minimises contamination, mix-ups, and errors, protecting consumers from ineffective or unsafe products.
GMP Guidelines Overview:
At the foundation of what we offer is certainty of product quality through consistent third-party testing, specifically for purity.
In an industry where many supplement providers cannot be fully certain of their product quality, third-party testing is essential to ensure purity and safety. This process removes uncertainty, so you can be confident that youāre taking supplements that are both safe and effective.
Every active ingredient in every batch of vitalityPRO products is independently tested by accredited laboratories to ensure unbiased analysis of purity.
In the case of probiotics, we test at the species level to verify that the organisms listed on the labelāsuch as Lactobacillus, Saccharomyces boulardii, and Bacillus coagulansāare present in each batch. Our approach ensures that the correct species are identified and delivered. To our knowledge, this level of species-specific testing is extremely rare in the industry, reflecting our commitment to scientific accuracy and transparency.
Additional third-party testing screens for contaminants such as heavy metals, pesticides, and microbes, ensuring that each product is safe for consumption. Although certificates are provided by the manufacturer, this independent validation goes beyond standard testing, adding an extra layer of quality control.
Independent third-party testing ensures that you receive reliable, high-quality products every time.
ISO 9001:2015 standards are an internationally recognised framework for effective quality management. This accreditation means we follow a structured system of continuous improvement, always refining our processes to enhance product consistency and customer satisfaction. ISO accreditation ensures that every aspect of our operationsāfrom production to customer serviceāis optimised. This means better oversight, reduced risk of errors, and a clear focus on delivering consistent results.
ISO 9001:2015 accreditation highlights a commitment to quality, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement.
We believe you should have full clarity about what you’re putting in your body and the steps we take to ensure the quality of our supplements. That’s why we are transparent and open about every part of our process.
Transparency means we share all the details that matterāhow our products are made, tested, and verified. From publishing third-party test results to offering clear ingredient labels, we provide you with the information you need to make informed choices about your supplements. Nothing is hidden, and every product comes with full accountability.
A balanced diet rich in fermented foods is a great source of probiotics. However because these foods contain such varied doses of probiotics, it may be difficult to obtain the same results found in studies that use supplemental forms.
This depends on why you are taking CultureĀ®. We generally recommend that an individual trials CultureĀ® for at least 2 months. This will allow the body long enough to adapt to the positive benefits of the product. You will then be able to determine whether or not CultureĀ® is right for you for longer term use.
The latest literature suggests that certain conditions such as SIBO or IBS can be made worse by prebiotics. We therefore decided not to include any prebiotics in CultureĀ®.
The CultureĀ® probiotic formula contains many strains from the genera Lactobacillus, Bifidobacterium, Streptococcus, and Bacillus. Most of these are lactic acid bacteria ā meaning they naturally ferment sugars like lactose (the sugar in milk) or lactic acid producing.
Possible reasons for additional flatulence include:
The flatulence most likely comes from the lactic acid bacteria strains fermenting the milk sugars (lactose) before your body has fully absorbed them.
